🌙 Born Remembering —A Soul Journal Entry

Before I had words, I spoke in my sleep, in another language.  

Before I understood death, I listened to the ones who had crossed.  

My grandmother had gifts too, but because of our religion, we kept them safe. 

She told my grandfather, I was different. 

I think she meant ancient. 

I didn’t learn to remember—I was born remembering.  

And for years, I carried that knowing quietly, like a flame cupped in my hands.  

Tonight, I offer this memory as a blessing.  

For the ones who feel strange, sensitive, or too much.  

For the ones who speak in symbols and dream in languages no one taught them.  

You are not broken. You are blooming.

Poetic Fragment: Born Remembering

I was four, maybe younger.  

The house was quiet, but I was speaking.  

Not in English. Not in anything they knew.  

A language curled from sleep,  

like smoke from a candle just blown out.  

My grandmother watched me from the doorway,  

her eyes soft with knowing.  

“She’s not from here,” she said.  

“She dreams in symbols.”  

I drew spirals on the walls,  

stars in the margins,  

An eye that never blinked.  

Every time, all my life.

I heard things from far away—  

footsteps before they arrived,  

voices that hadn’t yet spoken.  

I saw the dead,

But they didn’t scare me.  

They shimmered like old songs.  

I listened. I remembered.  

I carried their names in my chest  

Like seeds waiting for rain.  

I didn’t know I was different.  

I just knew I was awake.  

And when the fog came,  

I spoke in spirals again.
